[Vwdiesel] Where can I find a listing of the VAG-COM measuring metrics

I would say you are at the correct measuring block. Don't know of any others that read any other temp that would be that close unless you are reading some really hot intake air temps (post turbo). Honestly that temp doesn't seem bad to me. You really have to beat the crap out of the TDI in the winter time to get it higher. I use a mounted scangauge on my car and in my 10 miles to work even plugged in I can't really keep it up and above 170. Now if I do a trip of 30 miles and plugged in (even further unplugged in the winter) then I will get to about 184-186. If I do 65 then I can get 188. Towwing will get me to the 190. I have once going up the MTS hit 210. The needle on the dash stays at the 190 mark from about 165 up past the 210 I had it at as the needle didn't get any further past. The needle starts to read at about 140. There is two sensors-the dumb one and the real one the car reads for controling other things. I am not familiar with a the whole fault issue though that comes up on the cars if not warmed fast enough. Might want to take your car on the freeway and see if it will warm up enough. And if you have a frost heater leave it plugged in all night before the inspection.

> It seemed as if my thermostat was stuck 1/2 open.? Put a new one in and I saw little change in warmup time for the coolant temp needle to get to the middle.

> One thing I notice is before this error, the car would always run at dead center coolant temp, 190F
> This I have heard is not a true temp reading but regulated by some electronic gizmo to makes it look perfect and nice for the none engine person.
> Now my car seems to read true temp.
> I see a top engine coolant temp of 75.6C in Vag-com (un-registered) measuring block 007 when driving the car hard on highway to work.? Posting on TDI-Club say this should be over 77C,?so I am pretty sure I am looking at the correct measuring block catagory of 007?in Vag-com, but I am no expert.
> ?
> I can watch the engine warm up digitally with the software and laptop running in the car as I drive out to the highway.? It will not trigger when I do this trip.
> It only triggers if I am driving around town and the car does not heat up in the amount of time the ECU says it should.
> ?
> TDI-Club posting I found when googling 16512\P0128 says you need to change the ECU program and extend the amount of time before it triggers the CEL because it sees low coolant temp on sensor P0128.? ECU only allows 10 minutes when it see a qualifing engine start and your are off and running.
> Very specific to my engine only, Jetta
>
> It does not seem to be in line with the cluster temp guage in F.? 75.6C = 168F and the needle says it is 1/2 a click under 190F.? So, I could indeed have a failing sensor?or I am looking at the wrong block code measurement in Vag-com.

> Any idea's, I am pretty sure I can keep the code off for the next few days by only driving to work and then to the inspection station to get it inspected, but this will be a pain for the next year until I can fix it.
