[Vwdiesel] Caddy diesel steering rack

I will try the pre-load first.. but can these rack be rebuilt if  needed? 
you can get a used rack from a rabbit in the wrecking yard  for like $30-65



A friend brought me his pu to check out.  A shop said he needed  a new 
rack, 
tie rod ends, etc.  He'd put ALL of it new, just a year or less  prior.  A 
neighbor 
kid did it so he figured he may have done something wrong.  The worst  
thing I 
could find was one of the u-joints on the steering shaft was sloppy, side  
to side.
NOTHING else wrong!
  It's usually tie rod ends, sometimes the inner ones which are NOT  part 
of the 
rack so have someone wiggle the wheel while you check from  below/beside.  
I've 
tightened up the screw on ONE Rabbit rack ever.  It wasn't bad to  start 
with 
either.
