[Vwdiesel] IP Question

Thanks James, good idea I do have enough bits and pieces around to fab up a puller. Looks like I'll try my reseal, time to spec and if it isn't right I'll go by sight (smoke) and sound using other motor specs as ball park numbers. The pump was given to me many years ago.

Terry

yes, longer valves were later pumps Will.

Here, (Canada) I know the injector pipes were the same through 89.

My 97 Golf td has long valves, and different pipes, idle increase on cold

start part out, and idle increase for load- such as A/c pump.

Terry- you can make a plate to use as a puller- one center bolt pointing

toward the pump, and two bolts where the sprocket holes are, use close

fitting washers on the bolts (machine some thick ones if you have the stuff

to do so). Put washers through holes and rotate the puller some so the

washers offset in the hole, then pull with the center bolt. A good tap

usually pops it off. You can use pretty much any pump, but might have to

futz around with timing to get it right- or set to the spec for the motor it

came from.

The 110G is from a 85-86 non-turbo ME engine. I can't figure out what

the 109C is from, although a 109 is from an '84.

The only thing that really changed is the pipes between NA and

Turbodiesel, until the (late 80s??) when a 3rd type of pipe was used for

both NA and TD - although Canada still go the old kind? - I'm pawing

thorugh ETKA trying to figure it out..

The only thing I'd really be concerned about is the length of the

delivery valves that attach to your pipes, otherwise I think you're good

to go. And this may not be a big deal - I believe the later pumps got

longer valves.

There are new features on newer pumps, such as the idle increase when

the cold-start valve is pulled on my '91 eco, but these shouldn't really

affect driveability.

There is only 2 inches between the cover and sidewall. I need any advice for

easy pump gear removal. In the past I used a 2 leg puller but in the Kubvan

there is no room. Not enough for a puller or a plastic/brass hammer. Any

ideas?
