It would be nice for more diesel options but the US is too anti diesel and too many years of seeing black out of trucks and big equipment has put a bigger black stain on them. I know the chevy cruze is set to come out next year but common-how many others were out there that were set as well. It seems every couple years I hear this only to have them back out of bring a diesel over. A good part of it is that it seems when a diesel can make the emmisions standards for all the states a certain state likes to change the rules and then the rest of big gov likes to follow making research needed again to attempt to bring over. Funny how my $450 dodge 1/2 ton truck getting 6-9 mpg has better emissions then a diesel car that gets in the 30-50's mpg.

As far as not touching the new TDI's and the new autos. Trust me the auto trannys are MUCH better then the old VW ones and many others as well. Family has had plenty of chevy's take out there trannys which is expensive no matter the brand. The newer tranny still has some faults yes but my father has towwed close to 4000K many times and many more times 2000 on a trailer with a full car and it is 120K and counting. Every car if you read has some doom and gloom story that "could" happen to them. There isn't a single car that you can drive and just put fuel and oil in and nothing else for 500K miles. Accept the risks with anything and keep driving. Me personally think things are like wine and get better with age as the parts are improved and the process to fix gets refined.
