[Vwdiesel] fuel starved

I had an '81 Dasher diesel 1.6 when we lived near the California coast, and
had the same problem. The problem was algae growing in the fuel tank
around the screen where fuel went to the engine. At the recommendation of
the dealer, and after cleaning out the accumulated algae, a product called
Siloo was used regularly and the problem never occurred again. Siloo at
that time was available at Napa. It is an algaecide, and it worked.
