Interesting info, but in this case the VNT vanes are in the exhaust side. :)

Pilot would motor the engine and I'd squirt soap in the inlet, let it set and then rinse it out with fresh water. On the Garrett TPE-331 it had water/methanol injection so we never had to do washes. Guy might be able to do the same thing with a water methanol mix squirted in the inlet of the turbo while driving.
