I've tried cheap, and expensive ball joints Travis. The record is under a
year for cheap ones, would have been better leaving the sloppy old ones in
rather than putting in cheap ones. The expensive ones that had a *gasp*
grease nipple in them have done 200k through all conditions, winter, slat,
rain, etc...
I don't think the tires had much to do with it, unless they are really wide
or something.
Cheap is just, well, cheap.

I've had medium priced tie rod ends and ball joints fail in <10K miles! I
now grab a drill bit, 6mm tap and buy a zerk whenever I install one. Of
the 3 or 4 I did last year, one was FULL of grease, one had nearly none,
another had some. One joint had the cavity full of ball metal, the other two
had varying degrees of hollowness to the bottom of the ball.
