[Vwdiesel] Fuel line

Does anyone know the correct diameter inside or outside for the braided fuel line that is located under the truck between the fuel tank and the metal fuel lines that go to the engine compartment?
Mine are swollen and covered with years of dirt.  I am afraid to remove them to measure as I am sure they will break and I would like to have the new hose in hand before removing the old.
