I like to buy local, but they do have to be willing to play ball sometimes. 




  Try living here.  Captive audience.  Even the box stores seem to have the "<snort>  Where else you gonna 
go to buy it?" attitude.  Car dealers are especially bad that way and a LOT of things aren't available even 
though Wenatchee isn't all that small, you have to go to Spokane (3 hrs) or Seattle (2.5 hrs) or order on the 
web.  Price of fuel, even with driving a diesel, it's cheaper to pay the shipping most of the time!  Some of the 
locals try but still, not a set of 454 main bearings in the valley. (or shrink tubing, electronic parts except Radio 
Shack  :-P and so forth).  I even have to order my tennis shoes to get any to fit my skinny feet!
