[Vwdiesel] "new" 1997 Mercedes E300 diesel

Just bought a 1997 Mercedes E300 diesel. Has 185,000 miles & looks like new. Everything works except the horn. The check engine & SRS airbag light & check engine lights stay on. Have checked all the fuses & they are all good. There are 3 locations for the fuses. Under the hood, left side of the instrument panel accessible when you open the left door, & under the rear seat where the battery also lives. When I bypass the horn circuit the horn works so the problem is somewhere in the circuitry. Any good idea where to look? The prior owner said the check engine & air bag light have been on for the last 20,000 miles. I plan on driving back to Minn. next week leaving on Tuesday, 5/29 & would like to drive the Mercedes but can take my Ford Focus instead. Ideas?
