[Vwdiesel] Loss of power and rough running

  Don't forget that clogging in the return line can screw things up just as well. My 6.2 van sputtered to a stop a few times due to a stuck check ball on the pump outlet. Slowly lost power until idle got so slow it died.

Prepair to get messy.
I agree, blow out your fuel lines, * Disconnect at the tank on right side
utlet of tank, let it drain into a coffee can to be sure it is not plugged
oming out of tank, a COMMON spot. Rust build-up from 1982 tank.
* If good, plug it,
* dis-connect at the fuel filter, this will be a hard one, may want to heat the
lastic first or cut.
* blow out this section
* Disconnect from the injection pump IN.
* Then banjo bolt on fuel filter to injection pump IN.
* disconnect from the OUT banjo bolt on pump. Hard plastic again, heat first
* Disconnect from the Inlet of fuel tank, on left side. Plug tank after
etting some pour out.
* injection pump BACK to the fuel tank.
ection by section, it could not be any easier of a fuel system. Really.

Plugged fuel tank vent? You say 4-7psi is that rated pump operating
ressure, or measured when this is happening?
ounds very much like fuel starvation. Could also be a piece of crud in a
ine, such as some grass, chaff, fuzz, etc.
 had a combine that ran like this, it was two pieces of straw in a fuel
ine, that were caught at an elbow. Took quite a while for them to joggle
round just right, then it would plug. Take away suction, it settled down,
estart, and repeat.

Hi all! I was wondering why after 2-3 hours of driving I seem to loose
ower and it starts to run rough at idle and tries to die on me? I have put
n inline fuel pump before the fuel filter that runs 4-7 psi. Thanks for any
elp/advice!
