[Vwdiesel] Loss of power and rough running

Before you get all spendy and do pump and injectors, (unless they need it of
course) "T" in a vacuum gauge to your fuel line on the tank side of the
electric fuel pump. Facet pumps can get clogged too- if it is situated
pre-filter, you can get a speck of crud (and I mean a speck) in a check
valve inside the pump, and it just clicks away, a tad quieter, but not
accomplishing anything except just clicking and thrashing away at the fuel.
NO flow occurs. Bosch VE pumps are not designed to suck fuel, rather even
preferred to have a slight positive pressure, such as a couple psi like your
pump makes.
This is well documented on Canada's ex-military support vehicle, which I
have one of, the Iltis. The foam balls in the tank to prevent slosh would
flake off and small bits would impede the facet pump from pumping.
So when testing, if it still runs shitty, and you have no negative pressure
on the gauge, the tank to gauge is fine. Then put the gauge on the other
side of the pump. If it does it again, and there is pressure , you have to
look at the injection pump side. Then T the gauge into the return, to prove
that flow to completely eliminate the fuel system outside the pump as a
culprit. You want to see no pressure on the return side.

All the fuel lines seem to be clear of any excessive heat sources. I'm
planning on asking the most recommended diesel Dr in my area how much to go
thru pump and injectors.
