[Vwdiesel] VW truck - washer fluid pump/wiring issue

1981 VW rabbit truck with the 1.6 NA diesel in it yet. 

 

I put a jumper onto the power wire for the pump and when I would touch to ground voltage dropped and then the wiper would stop after a couple wipes. If I unhooked that jumper or from the pump-the wiper would come back on and stay on again unless I put either the jumper or the pump connections back on. Nothing else is affected in the truck. I was talking with a couple people at work and they asked if it had a relay in the system. I remember I had put the intermediate setting wiper on and if I remember that means also added a relay to the system. They said to check that. So I may swap with my 1981 rabbit car which I had added the intermediate to as well and test.
