[Vwdiesel] Starting issues 91 Jetta TD (Fancy Dancer)

I'm going to take off the 2 gauge wires I made from the battery to the starter and to the engine block off, clean them up and put them back on and see what happens next. At least I know I can get an ignition switch. Found them on Ebay for $8 free shipping as well as my local Car Quest.

Thanks everyone for the help.
Nick

If the fan was blowing UNTIL you moved the key to the "start" position, that means that a small amount of juice could flow, but when you engaged the starter, then almost all of the juice available flowed (flew?) through the starter motor, and there wasn't enough left to run the fan.

IF this is what really happened, then you could have a high resistance connection to the battery. Check the battery terminals, and then where the ground strap attaches, and then the hot lead to the starter motor.

Just my 2¢

Dan
