[Vwdiesel] The N/A diesels weren't all made in Wolfsburg

By the time I was in college, my '80 Rabbit 1.5D ( a Westmoreland, BTW) was getting pretty old. People would ask me to drive on road trips, but I'd say, "Fine, just let me go home and pick up the rest of my tools first."
Never seemed to have to drive after all. I probably didn't help VW's reputation in Central Texas, but I couldn't afford much fuel no matter how efficient the car.

Subject: [Vwdiesel] The N/A diesels weren't all made in Wolfsburg
When my kids were in high school, we all had N/A diesels. Mine was a '78 (from Wolfsburg), as was the '79 of son #2. The other two were '81 vintage, and made in Pennsylvania.
In '79, the gas rabbits were made in Westmoreland, PA, but the diesels still came from Germany. By 1980, they were all from Westmoreland.
In hindsight, there was one thing wrong with my kids having VW diesels. Whenever someone wanted to take a road trip, it was always "Fred, let's take you car because it's so economical". Boy, did those cars rack up the mileage!
