[Vwdiesel] air filters

I have done extensive testing (ten years ago) on stock and aftermarket
air filters and filter systems for Ford 7.3, and suprisingly, the K&N
panel filter I tested did not even flow that well.  I have also
unfortunately had expensive personal experience with K&N filters
failing to provide even fundamental levels of filtration (most on other
people's engines, but a few times on  my own).  If someone gave me a
thousand dollar K&N system for one of my vehicles, it would become a
doorstop or paper weight, NEVER a filter on a running engine.

On VW TDIs, the stock system will flow far more air than the engine
needs up to considerably more horesepower than a street engine is
likely to ever make.  If you REALLY want more, install an R32 system
(if there is one to fit your car).
