[Vwdiesel] parts interchange.

Until a week ago. I'd managed to get the pickup, up Dad's driveway only one time, since it'd snowed! Changed the stuipd, fat (cheap) studded snow tires I had, to some skinny, less aggressive tires I was given. Felt better on the roads but still couldn't get up the last bit of his drive. It was ice now, instead of slick, wet snow. Odd thing is now that it's turned colder, I run up it fairly well (not as well as the Golf without snow tires). Funny thing is that recently two different four wheel drives couldn't make it up while I had and Dad's Dodge that won't go anywhere the least bit slick, without putting it in 4x makes it fine. Made me want the Quattro back!

I'd say any doors from the same generation will work, but doubt even the next
eneration would work. They looked similar but the body was changed enough that
t shouldn't work.
I just looked at pics of wagons vs sedans and at first I thought they looked
ifferent, but after looking more closely, I think the "difference" is an
ptical illusion. They look the same to me.
Diesel is right around 3.75/gallon here in Manhattan, as well as in Riley last
ight, the next town over from where we looked at the sprayer. (James, you
hould have purchased it and had me drive it up! That would have been a grand
dventure.) The price hasn't changed much recently, and according to my Fuel
og app, the price has averaged 3.83 since I started keeping track in May with a
ow of 3.56 in June and 4.20 in October.
Speaking of grand adventures, I had a small one with one of my clients last
ight. We drove over to Tuttle Creek Reservoir to look for Bald Eagles (they
igrate through the area this time of year, and there are at least three nests
long the lake so some stay). We ended up driving down a hill toward the water
n a snow-covered gravel road. There was one set of tire tracks since it snowed
n 12/31. Didn't see any eagles, too bad. When we went to leave, the ole Golf
idn't want to crawl up the snowy hill. No problem, I thought, I have snow
hains.

nfortunately, they didn't fit! So that was out. I backed down a little to a
lat spot to try for some momentum but that didn't get me far.

o the next option was to just floor it to force the tires to dig down through
he snow to the gravel. This worked to crawl up the initial hill (with the
peedo reading 25ish...) to a flatish spot where I was able to gain momentum
nough to make it up the next hill!
Whew!
Next time we meet, I'm driving the 4Runner again...

Our trip last April revealed higher than usual diesel prices as well.
heapest was near David Cook in KS, when we went to look at a sprayer for
ames. Wonder what their prices are like now?
I'd strongly suspect that a 4 door and wagon are identical from the doors
orward. All of them sure seem to be, just as a Jetta is a golf from the doors
orward (at least used to be).

have a 90 passat wagon, i would like to change out a drivers rear door and a
ssenger front door and wondered if the four door model has the same doorsand
other years may also work..i am currently traveling in the south eastern part
the us and hoped to find some rust free parts while doing so. i hope all is
ll for everyone in the new year. i think our interest in these vw;s is going
become more important as the next years march on , i am amazed at the high
ice of diesel around the country, areas where i usually see big savings over
e prices in chicago where i live
