[Vwdiesel] Golf Door Issues

My silly Golf has been a little confused the past few days.  It thinks the back driver side door is open occasionally.

What ends up happening is that the door open light comes on on the dash, and the dome lights come on, both while driving.

If I lock the car when the light happens to be off, it might later decide that the door has opened and then the alarm will go off.  It appears that if it thinks the door is open when I get out and lock the door, the alarm may not go off (at least this was the case last night).

I got in the CCM with VCDS and this is how I was able to determine that it was the rear door.  I attempted changing the coding to make it think the car is equipped with "2 doors/4 windows" to see if that helps.  When I go back and look, it will show the two rear doors as "not installed" but the dash light is still on so i don't know how it will affect the alarm.


Anyone have any other ideas on how to fix the problem?  I don't want to throw too much money at the totaled car.  The main thing is I want to be able to lock the car without worrying about the alarm going off randomly, and the dome light turning on and off randomly is annoying.  (So is not having a light come on automatically when I open the door at night.)
