[Vwdiesel] Golf Door Issues

The only time I had a door lock module apart was in the 97 Passat. As I
recall, it was ridiculously simple to fix. All that was wrong was it was a
bit oxidized, and there was no continuity. Can you get the door lock off
from the outside Dave? I'd just try that, it's on the door lock, then check
for continuity, wire hooked up, not corroded, etc...

The problem likely lies wit. The door lock module. They have switches in
them that tell the ECU that the door is open or closed. My drivers door has
thought it's been closes for 8 years now.

The fixes are to either get a new DLM for around $150, or replace the switch
with one that you can retrofit for around $5 and some of your labor. Not
impossible, but a pain nonetheless.

Good luck!

it thinks the door is open when I get out and lock the door, the alarm may
not go off (at least this was the case last night).

was the rear door. I attempted changing the coding to make it think the car
is equipped with "2 doors/4 windows" to see if that helps. When I go back
and look, it will show the two rear doors as "not installed" but the dash
light is still on so i don't know how it will affect the alarm.

throw too much money at the totaled car. The main thing is I want to be
able to lock the car without worrying about the alarm going off randomly,
and the dome light turning on and off randomly is annoying. (So is not
having a light come on automatically when I open the door at night.)
