My 04 golf had an issue with the drivers door when I bought it. I liked the other doors turning on the light when my street didn't have lamps and I didn't have a garage nor a light on the rental duplex. I had read some get sticky with age and to try contact cleaner. I sprayed a whole can down into the lock on and off while opening/closing the door. Then-it worked. Now the front passanger door doesn't work. Since I don't use that door and I now have lights and a garage/shop I don't really loose sleep over it but I may try contact cleaner someday first. There is a little dogbone looking thing that can break with time that causes the issues mainly. If yours is saying it is open then try the contact cleaner as it may just be sticking.
AAZ engine-you can use the alt from the AAZ. It is a 90 amp-not the 65 amp and should be a serp belt style-not a v-belt. The two red wires can be crimped together to go on the main power lug on the alt and then a separate post is for the exciter. I would advise getting a clutched alt pulley as it really smooths the engine/vehicle out at idle and is much easier on the crank/sprocket. Are you going to mill the crank to accept the TDI belt sprocket? If not-do the clutch alt pulley at minium as the AAZ's have been known to spin the keyway. I did end up using some of the parts from my 1.6 NA engine like the hose connections for the coolant on the engine, the heater metal piping for the coolant and the motor mounts. I didn't actually use the oil sender as I just use my gauges in the vehicle. Looking back I should have T'ed into it so I could get a red light if it was too low and still see the actual pressure. Sometimes you can't see that a gauge has dropped to 0 when paying attention to the road but you can see a red light come on.
Anybody have any good tips on replacing the rubber boots for my 04 golf hatch that the wires and washer line feed through? Both boots are split and the drivers side the wire coating is also split and I can see bare copper. Everything works-but I know it is a matter of time. I have searched but it isn't a common item so not many DIY. I did find the boots as one place online did have them. There is NO way to just tape it up-even for a temp fix that would do any good.
