[Vwdiesel] Parts compatibility?

A few years ago I was at a Portland TDIClub GTG, and it was discovered that
one of the other guys (Aaron of Boraparts fame) had numerous tiny pinholes
in the T-belt on his A3.  This was attributed to running without a belt
cover and small stones or other debris getting in there.  No engine damage
but he changed the belt (and I assume got a cover).
