[Vwdiesel] Parts compatibility?

Ok So after putting my 2 cents, I'm somehow sure ill run over a couple of two by fours and a squirrel on my way home from work, all will run through the timing belt and cogs, leaving me stuck in the middle of the busiest intersection I drive thru on my way home.

I haven't been running any of my diesel vw's with the timing belt covers for as long as I can remember. 
I like being able to quickly inspect my belt when I check the oil and tend to believe the belts last longer without running in an enclosed environment with limited ventilation.
That being said, I'm sure I'm living on borrowed time, what I'd like to do is get a timing belt cover and use it as a mold to vacuum form a clear cover, that would seem to be the best of both worlds.
