Yes, just keep in mind that the risks inherent in not seeing the belt are
quite miniscule compared to the risk associated with it running it
unsheilded.
In my experience over the last number of years, I have never had an issue
that would have been caught by having the belt visible... say about 25 years
or so. THere has been minor belt damage on some of the older metal shields
on 1.6's, from small stones that have made their way past the shields. On
the newer stuff, never, especially on anything built in the 2000's, the
plastic shields are pretty much dustproof, even when when they are coming
off for replacement, the belts still look pristine. Your AAZ engine should
have plastic shields.
