Relay installed is a good idea, implemented by me since 1972 Beetle,
Rabbits, Jettas and Westy. Ark

The best bet is to install some relays in there to take the high current
load off the
switch. Instead of having 10-15 amps running through that little switch,
you only have
0.1 amps for the relay coils and then the relays handle the heavy current.
