[Vwdiesel] Loose Boost Pipe

I am assuming it was the BEW engine since the ALH has real clamps. The weak connection is the pipe going to the intake manifold which my brother and I each have the "dog collar" mod to hold it in place. I haven't heard of other connections failing. We commonly hit 20 psi in boost and no other issues. I have some oil draining out of that area-but it has held together.

In other news. I did get my South Bend stage 2 endurance clutch with single mass flywheel installed. It is the lastest "quite" design. Brother has the same clutch minus the "quite" part so it chatters a little when not engaged (I think, it doesn't make noise all the time). Mine doesn't make noise at all. I can't tell forsure if the clutch is easier to push in since I started to drive the rabbit all week while installing but it seems really easy to push in like it could be easier (beter for thrus bearings). I noticed the parts were stamps SACHS on them so I called the supplier (idparts.com). They said they assemble the parts with a few modifications from other venders as there is no need to re-invent the wheel. I did run into an issue with to small of tranny mount bolts being sent so that delayed me a couple days and I lost a spring clip for the starter harness. Brother found a clip at a salvage yard. Starter was greased so we shall see if it stops making noise when cold.

I did also run into a charging issue. I thought it was due to the harness being zip tied on so I was rushing to get a clip. That didn't solve it. I washed my scangauge II bounce from 13 bolts into the 11 voltage range and it kept lowering over the 4 hours driving. Batery light never came on. I couldn't get it to start a few times either and the glow plug codes would pop up once in a while when starting. When I put the clip on I notced the red wire feeding the fuzes on top of the batter was loose to the battery cable. I thought that and the spring clip would solve it-didn't though. As I charged the battery that night so I could drive 4 hours again I couldn't get it to start again. I poped the hood and got a click and a large spark flew out from the car. After my wife made a few comments (master of the obvious) I had her look where it came from when I attempted again. All it was-was the ground battery cable connecting to the tranny bolt. I installed the nut-but never tighted. Teaches me for working on cars too late at night during a cold work week. Tightened-no more issues.

I sent in my warranty paper work via fax (that is the only way they would take it). They took the deposit out for the shock so it must be in the mail. Once I swap out my bad right rear shock (bouncing all over the place) and send it to them if they determine it wasn't my fault and it is bad-they will credit my money back.
