[Vwdiesel] All diesel family agian

Well as of yesterday evening, both of my principle drivers are diesel again.  I took delivery of the first 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel from my dealer.  Haven’t put much mileage on it yet, but planning to take it out to east Texas on Saturday.  Car was pricey but I am approaching retirement age in about 3 years and we are looking to buy a travel trailer next year so we needed something with towing capabilities beyond the Hyundai Santa Fe (a really great vehicle BTW).  Jeep has a 7400 lbs towing capability and it will take me some time to learn all the bells and whistles.  For those that haven’t heard, this uses an Italian (VM) V6.  I don’t have the specs right in front of me right now but I will post later.  It does need the addition of diesel pee fluid but the tank is sized to only do it at oil changes every 10000 miles!  I will post pics on my webpage as I get them and keep you guys informed about actual verses EPA mileage. 
Just to keep the VW diesel content, my 82 is purring right along.  The mpg for this high output GTD engine is right inline with my old TDI.  My 22 mile daily round trip to work with short trips elsewhere has given me a really steady 37 mpg.  I am still having to relearn how to drive the car.  In the TDI, all the power was down low so you had to shift gears much earlier to get the power to the wheels.  This car, with the Giles “magic” injection pump, gets into the high rpm ranges before it really pulls but at 60 you can stomp on it and it takes off!   Hayden
