Bryan,
While the MK2 Bracket will bot to the MK1 (1500 Engine) the Plate that's part of the front engine mount and the Injection pump mount will not allow a MK2 alternator Bracket to fit with out a lot of work. I was looking for a replacement for the stamped alternator bracket for my 1500, and the MK2 mount requires a lot of cutting. I found a MK1 cast alternator mount which required some cutting but not as much and used that. If you have the engine out for major work you could put a MK2 front plate and timing belt shroud on the engine & use the MK2 alternator Bracket.

Hi, Pretty sure the MK2 90amp alt. will not fit in the MK1 bracket for 60amp
alt.
I am pretty sure the bolt holes are the same if you can find a MK2 alt. bracket
to the block.
