[Vwdiesel] update on mileage and some needs

Most automotive A/C shops can build you a new hose, probably the better choice over a 30 year old, used one.  They're barrier hoses now too, unlike the old ones.  I've been told that once they age and "clog up" the old hoses don't leak any more, to speak of, than the barrier hose.  Your old hose probably isn't long enough to just put a new end on but there again, about a 30 year old hose.

It has been awhile since I have had time to post.  Just really busy redoing my 
V parking pad and fence so that my recently purchased camper trailer will fit 
roperly.  I have also been really busy at school.  Well enough of that.  I now 
ave 5 tanks of fuel under my belt with the correct speedometer drive gear 
nstalled in the Jetta and I am very pleased.  The car is averaging just above 
9 mpg on my short trip back and forth to work with on occasional longer highway 
rip.  Best has been 41 with about 60% back and forth to work and 40% highway.  
 am now running B50 homebrew biodiesel and it doesn’t seem to affect the 
ileage or the running of the engine.
ow for the other part, I noticed the other day that I wasn’t getting any 
ooling from the AC and discovered that the hose from the condenser (in front of 
he radiator) to the compressor has broken at the connection to the compressor.  
he version that I have goes under the compressor and then comes up close to the 
ryer.  I suppose I could use the one that goes across the top like on the 
ickups but really prefer to find one like I have so if anyone has one lying 
round not using it, I would appreciate the help.  I would of course be willing 
o pay exorbitant amounts of money like on Ebay!!!  ;^)  I also need the hvac 
ontrols for a car with AC.  I replaced the original one with another but  it is 
lso failing.  Since eventually I will need to have the AC here in texas I 
eally need to get all this stuff fixed.  TIA Hayden
