I got off work a little early and was able to get the newly-acquired TDI motor installed into my bus!  (Had to drive to Michigan a couple weeks ago to get the motor, prepped it last week.)

It took awhile to get going because I incorrectly assumed that the low placement of the fuel filter would bleed it fairly quickly, but once the fuel reached the motor, it fired up and settled to a nice idle pretty quickly.  

I have a lot of work to do in terms of things like adjusting the shifter and clutch, I may well explore a different filter setup and some other things as well as build an exhaust system and other odds and ends, but I was able to drive it around the block.

Unfortunately, freakin' winter is coming back for one (hopefully) last blow tonight/tomorrow so I probably won't be driving it much for another week or so.  Only has a rear Vanagon heater at the moment, and I won't want to drive it while there is salty slush all over the roads anyway.
