Could glue some closed cell foam to it. :-) Undercoating might help some but will make a major mess if you ever get a diesel leak or much oil accumulation.

Subject: [Vwdiesel] Skid Plate Sound deadening?

I ordered a Panzer Plate and the metal side skirts last night; hoping they may
come in time to install this weekend along with the timing belt kit.

Anyway, I was curious for those of you who have installed one of the metal skid
plates, did it make any difference in diesel rattle noise? I currently have
just the plastic side skirts, no lower pan at all.

I was wondering if spraying some kind of rubber undercoating on the inside of
the skid plate would help absorb some of the rattle reflections.

Since I sold my 4Runner, I decided to beef up the Golf a little bit because it
might see a little crazier terrain. I'm also looking into raising it to create
an Off Road Adventure Golf.
