[Vwdiesel] Was injection pump timing

By one tooth, does that refer to the flywheel? If so that is about 3 degrees on the crank. Did you take a reading @ TDC?
Be sure to check that when backing away from the timing mark looking for the flat spot, that it is indeed the flat spot of the pump and not the dial running out of travel,
meaning that you were actually more advanced that the reading would imply. That precaution is where the "preloading" reference in the Bentley description applies (albeit
confusingly)...
