  Probably claiming that the reverse shift fork is bad somehow.  Reverse gears get chipped, 5th gear synchros go dry and get bad and I suppose if you really ran one a long time that way, and leaned on the shifter, you might damage the fork.
  With 1st gear doing similarly, it sounds like you need to adjust your shifter rod.  You might be best to DIY or have someone else do it.  Not saying he's incompetent but right off, it kinda sounds like it.

No, not a dinner fork....After doing a shifter adjustment  mechanic claimed a 
ork in transmission is cause of shifter not always going into reverse. Doesnt 
lways completely engage reverse gear, instead get a clashing sound and have to 
etry putting back in gear. once in awhile 1st gear pos out when starting out... 
ately the reverse issue has been getting worse. Comments please....Also would 
hanging the standard xmsn fluid to MTL help in this case? Tx in advance....
