[Vwdiesel] 2001 Golf MKiv door lock issue

Rolf, there are a ton of DIY's on vwvortex.com and tdiclub.com on getting
the door apart. The door lock module comes out as a unit attached to the
inner door panel (the one that the window regulator screws to). The door
is tedious to disassemble, but not terribly difficult.

The glass can stay in the car. You usually use duct tape to keep it up.
Yes, the window regulator comes out. Yes, you remove the DLM. As for
diagnosing why it won't close... I haven't the faintest. Mine has a failed
switch that makes it think the door is closed at all times. I've also
replaced both window regulators up front, so I've had the doors apart.

Here's some help: http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?1015107
