Yeah, what Loren said. Were it me, I would use the air hammer on them. I made a flat face beating stick for my air chisel (hammer) It really vibrates the hell out of stuff, pulverizes rust between threads on bolted things, frees stubborn ball joints, tie rods, etc... Generally makes stuff fall apart.
Come to think I have a Jetta here that has rears seized, I've been meaning to do that, I'll try it tomorrow. :-)
Really, if you can get them to vibrate around with a hammer, the shoes should unstick, it's probably the bottom half of the shoes that are rusted on. Happens every summer on the semi trailers, they sit for a couple months before harvest, and the moisture from dew and stuff is enough to stick the drums to the trailer pads. Real piss off, but generally, a few whomps from the flat end of a crowbar against the drum from the tire side near the middle-ish is enough to shake things loose. Crowbar being an iron stick 1.5" diameter by 5 feet long. It takes a pretty good wallop.

Nah, still need the BFH but I'd just hit on the face of the drum, around the rim. Not terribly hard, just shocking blows to break up rust. If it breaks doing that, then better now than on the road. :-)

When I parked the truck, I was afraid of the drums rusting to the shoes. So, I intentionally did not set the parking brake. I have not looked underneath to see if the cables move or not.I thought of the BFH idea but the drums are cast iron and I'm afraid of damaging/breaking them. Maybe a rubber mallet would work instead of the BFH?
