I might take you up on that! I just had Dad's Golf sitting in the shop, dead, for well over a week. Simply died and wouldn't restart. Immobilizer wouldn't let it start. It'd needed a battery but temps had warmed up so... (shouldn't put that off since it just eats up warranty on an already bad battery) Finally swapped the battery even though their tester said it was fine (car now turns over about twice as fast, hmmm) Still wouldn't start. So I'd read to leave the key on 10 min and see if it goes away. Nope. Option was to leave it on an hour or two and sure enough it went away and no immobilizer! Still wouldn't start! Finally had help and finally noticed the anti-shudder valve was pulling SHUT as soon as the car started! Disconnected it and the car now runs. Now to diagnose THAT problem.
That's about the 3rd time the immobilizer has stopped the car from starting, from a low, but still passable, battery. :-P Just not developing a fondness for electronic control of diesels...
