I a not getting a 15 Passat TDI, Vincent is, maybe. I am just redoing an old 82 Westy Vanagon and putting in an AHU TDI engine. Hayden

I had done it once before and couldn’t remember if you should go in the same order as torquing or reverse. This Vanagon Westy project has really got me going. I rescued the thing from and old storage warehouse down in Houston. Before that it had been parked in a barn near Austin, Tx since 1997 and become quite the rodent bed and breakfast place. I have spent several months just removing all the interior to clean up at the rat poo and piss!! Boy is that stuff corrosive. Only a couple of areas of rust that needed major fixing and just a couple of other areas, like the sliding door that will need some fixing but nothing enormous. I have a brand new 1z/AHU TDI long block that I am putting together using parts from an AHU that was stored in a shed for several years waiting for a project that never happened for another diesel head! So far I have had to source a triangular turbo mount AAZ exhaust manifold ( and then manufacture a mounting bracket to mount the AHU turbo), an AAZ intake manifold and numerous other Vanagon diesel only parts. I would really like to have a Vanagon turbodiesel oil pan but I will make do with the regular diesel Vanagon oil pan for now. Since I am retiring in may, this will be my long term project. I picked it up some last summer and have only recently really gotten serious about it. Anyone know if Loren is still about? I checked the archives and nothing from him since Dec. 2017. I usually get a Christmas card/letter from him but not so far this year. Oh well, keep dieseling. Hayden
