oil change (a mini followup)

As guys on the net probably remember,
I asked whether it is practical to switch to
a synth oil  for an 87 Audi 4000S with 53K+ 

miles on it.

Thanks to all of you who took time and care to
reply.

The vote have been overwhelmingly in favor of 

switching so I put in  Mobil 1 15W-50 synth in
my Audi quite recently.

Well... it is too early for comprehensive judgement
but my engine _definitely_ sounds in a different and
more pleasing way now. Also when cold my engine has
been sort of rough and jerky the first 10 minutes of
driving and smothed out only when oil temperature
exceeded 65. Now the period of cold roughness shrinked
to less than a minute and oil temperature stays low at
all time.

I hope to be able to post further impressions later.
