I think they may have still done this clear up to '86 or '87. My '84
5000S turbo has the same two oil filters.

My '84 has a water cooled turbo, even a little electric coolant pump that
kicks on to cool the turbo after the engine has been shut down. I was really
amazed when I first saw this... I was also amazed when I saw the little
fan and duct system that they had designed to cool the fuel injectors 
after a hot shut-down.
