This is actually fairly common, especially on earlier cars which are
not equipped with a oil-control baffle under the valve cover. The
breather hose from the valve cover to the intake tract is likely to
be where the oil went through. If your car does not have a oil control
baffle, you might consider adding one. To find out whether you have one,
open the oil filler cap on the valve cover and look in. If you see
your camshaft, then you don't have such a baffle. If you see only
a black plastic surface, then you already have the baffle.
