the shift lock does not allow you to shift from P or from N to any
other gear unless you have the brake pedal depressed. this is
actually a nuisance for me because on the v8 the creep is substantial
and the brakes need heat to bite well.. therefore on a red light one
has to press on the brake pedal really hard to hold the
car.. alternatively one could shift out of D into N, but it requires
you to brake before slipping it back to D.. on a level surface it is
pretty inconvenient..
also, this shift lock cannot be easily disabled without the computers
going nuts. at least that's what i was told.
