There is a federal law in the US that all new cars be warranteed for all
emission related equipment in the car for 50K miles. I do not know if there
is a time period as well. Since your car has 63K miles on it, it may or may
not be covered. Also, if the problem is only noise and emissions are not
affected, Audi may be able to get out of fixing it. In any event check with
your dealer and if they don't agree ask to speak to the Audi factory rep.
Be insistent and tell them that 63K is too low a mileage for the cat to go bad.
You may able to get them to pay for the part with you paying for the labor.
