All the Audis equipped with the low brakes warning indicator have the wires in the
front brake pads. When the pad gets weared enough to cut the contact between these
two wires, the indicator on the dash panel lights up.
I use to get semimetalic front pads for my 5000CS '86 from the "Trak and Auto" 
chain store for $22 and they also come with the wires.
