Re: another view on VR6 vs Audi V6
this is speculative on my part, but it seems that the vr6 has a
somewhat more limited performance potential than the audi v6.
by this i mean that it would be more difficult in the coming years
to extract additional hp out of the vr6 than it would in the v6.
i think that the vr6's design limits its maximum capacity somewhat, and vw
struggled for years to come up with more than 2v per cylinder. the G
lader has been abandoned and vw is reluctant to turbocharge engines, so
i wonder what they will do with the vr6..
the audi v6, otoh, is very closely related to the 4,5 and v8 cylinder
engines which in various forms now boast over 100bhp/liter, over 100
foot pounds/liter, 5 valve heads, 4 valve heads, turbocharging,
supercharging. i think that audi v6 in the long run has a much
greater power output potential than the vr6.
but all this matters little for today's customers..
