I would think the intake would be damaged too, then

If that turbine is spitting out parts then bent valves is the 
least of the problems - the vibration alone from high speed
rotating parts that are now out of balance would be enormous 
and catastrophic failure is seconds away (as in the turbine
becomes a grenade at high speed)
