No, that doesn't seem probable - the easiest way to get (large particle)
contamination into the cylinder is through the spark plug hole (or from 
a spark plug disintegrating). It might be worth the effort to look at the
plug in question.  I've heard of a plug disintegrating and firing the 
ceramic (with the wire attached) like a bullet around the bay. But it didn't
leave anything in the cylinder.
