IMHO, the speedo prob. is a worn/needs lubricated/bad cable. This would
certainly cause the behavior you mentioned. As for the cruise, in my
87 4000S, there is a little 2 pin stabilizer thingie on the back of the
speedo that I assume stabilizes the speed for the cruise. If the speedo is
bouncing away, I would think that it would affect the cruise. But... the
other guy who responded (forget who) said that he had the same prob. and
replaced the cable and the cruise is still screwey.
Did the cruise work fine before this?? The cable might fix the prob.
