I'd like to propose a sliding scale. The fool filter catches any detritus
thoughtfully supplied by your gas station at no extra charge, but also catches
internally-generated rubbish. In a new vehicle, perhaps for the first 60k or
so, this is so close to zero that it doesn't matter.
In later life, corrosion becomes more widespread in the system.
I'd propose leaving the filter alone for the first 45k, and then applying one
30k interval followed by 15k intervals - unless, of course, you replace the
tank or major subsystem components.
