I can vouch for this. Last summer, my 100Q's fuel pump went to heaven.
When my mechanic replaced it, he replaced the filter, too: "too much
crap gets in it if the pump shreds itself."

Without a tuneup of any sort, just the filter and pump, I noticed a
definite increase in response the next day. For $26 (plus $215 for
the pump, $40 for labor, $45 for the tow), I was satisfied.
