I picked up a set of BOGE ProGas for my 87 4000S and they work great.  
They also sell Koni, etc.  I would highly recommend the ProGas for a 
street driver.  They aren't too rough for the commute, but are very firm 
when the speed picks up.  If you like the Bilsteins, stick with them, but 
I had to put in my opinion.

I have dealt with Shokan on a number of occasions and found them to be 
excellent for used parts.  If you are wondering, check the parts_vendors 
list on the majordomo@swiss.ans.net server.  It is a list of, you guessed 
it, parts vendors, to deal with and some that you should NOT deal with.  
Send a mail message to majordomo with the line, in the body of the 
message, not the subject line, of:  get quattro parts_vendors and it will 
e-mail you the list.  You can also receive the index by requesting the
get quattro index command in the same way.  Mail me if you have any problems.
