I posted a few months ago about the possibility of a problem with
my left rear wheel bearing. I took it to the shop and they said that
it looks like the axel was rubbing against the exhust system, and
once the new one was installed the noise would be gone.
(BTW, the noise was a humming sound which would decrease when I made
left turns, but get louder when turning right) At any rate, I got the
new exhust and sure enough, the sound was still there. He then told me
that it could be a wheel bearing. (Which is what I told him when I first
took it in!)
My question is again, does this sound like the problem? The noise
also gets louder if there are more people in the car. If I had to guess,
the noise has been there for the past 6 months. When it started, it was
not that loud, but I haven't noticed it getting any louder then it
currently is.
And, on a side note.. I called the local dealership to see how much
they wanted to install a new exhust system.. The guy told me $189!!!
I also fell over. The place I took it only charged me $37. Not bad at
all.
